Hi,

Can I use this adapter to connect a Thunderbolt 3 MacBook Pro 16" 2019 to a Thunderbolt 2 2011 iMac 21" so as to use the iMac as an external screen for the Macbook Pro?

Yes. You will also need a Thunderbolt cable.
