so i have an iphone 12 pro max and the storage capacity shoukd be 128GB, but it only has 50 GB because i paid extra for my iphone 8plus to have storage. why don't I have the 128 GB? where did it go?

128GB is the storage on your iPhone. You can see how much of that you are using at Settings > General > iPhone Storage.

50GB is your upgraded storage on iCloud. Your screenshot is showing that from Settings > [username] > iCloud.
