Can I put my Apple account on hold only to prevent new purchases, but still allow my monthly iCloud storage to go through?

A company I bought a monthly app subscription from was trying to give me a free month, as an apology for a technical issue they had that inconvenienced me. But the charge went through on my Apple account anyway. Now they're asking me to put my Apple account on hold for awhile, so that we/they can make sure I get the free month this time. The problem is, I buy cloud storage from Apple and get automatically charged every month. I'm wondering - is there a way to put my Apple account on hold just for new purchases, but still allow my iCloud monthly payment to go through? Or will I lose my storage if I put my Apple account on hold?

Thanks for any guidance!

Hi, susanIB.

We understand that you’re trying to take advantage of a free subscription period, but you subscribe through your Apple account that is set to auto-renew every month. It’s not likely that the company is asking you to put your entire Apple account on hold, but your subscription through Apple. It may just be a matter of canceling your subscription to the company service using the instructions outlined here:

How to cancel a subscription from Apple - Apple Support

This will stop the app from billing you again next month and hopefully allow the company to apply the free period to your account. Once the free period has elapsed, and you’re ready to start being billed again, you can come back to your subscriptions page and reactivate your subscription. This will allow your other account services to remain unaffected.
