Touch Bar disappears after I click on the < to expand the control strip

I just bought a MacBook Pro 2020 with the M1 chip and the Touch Bar worked normal for two weeks so far. But all of a sudden today, when I click on the < to expand the control strip it the Touch Bar options disappears. I tried to kill the server and agent to manually refresh TB from the terminal. It brings back the Touch Bar, but again, when I click on the < to expand the control strip, it disappears. If I change the TB settings from system preferences , to Function keys, the Touch Bar contents stays well. The issue is only when I try to click to expand the control strip.

Any suggestion, please....Its a new Mac and I am worried it can be a hardware problem....

Please suggest...s

Hey there rathna160,

We understand the Touch Bar on your MacBook Pro is not expanding as expected. We'll be happy to help.

To begin, we'd recommend starting your Mac in safe mode to see if the issue happens there. Use these steps: How to use safe mode on your Mac

Afterwards, reboot and start normally. Test the Touch Bar, as starting in safe mode can help fix some issues.

If it still happens, let's create a new test user account to see if happens there. Create the user with the steps here: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

If it doesn't happen in that user, we'd recommend removing start up items to see if there is an application causing issues.

To see which applications start up with your user account, go to: System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items

Let us know how that goes or if you have any questions. Cheers!
