HDCP on Safari does not work

When I try to watch content through Netflix or Amazon on Safari they return an error about HDCP, saying I can't watch it. However those same platforms work if I use Chrome. This problem seems to have started after I updated to the latest 11.2 MacOS update. Thanks for the help!

Hi there maligned_help!

It sounds like you are having trouble streaming content on Netflix and Amazon via Safari. We'll be glad to give you some tips that can help remedy this issue.

To start, are you using an external monitor with your Mac? If so, it is connected with a HDMI or DVI connection?

If not, are you mirroring your display using AirPlay to another device while you stream?

If not, let's have you start your Mac in safe mode and then test to see if you are able to stream content. Use the steps listed here: Start up your Mac in safe mode

We hope this helps.
