If I purchase a brand new iPhone X or iPhone 8 off of eBay is it possible to get AppleCare extended warranty for it? Or can I only get that for the latest iPhones currently on Apple's website or carrier stores?

Iphone X was discontinued 2 years ago, there is no such thing as a brand new one.
