Lightning to HDMI not working with streaming apps

I recently purchased an Apple Lightning to HDMI cord to be able to watch shows on my iPad and project onto my TV. The cord works and is compatible with my separately purchased HDMI cord and allows me to watch videos on YouTube and some other social media apps; however, it does not work when I try to stream from my cable provider, Hulu, Disney+ and many other streaming apps. Why is this the case?
