Hi All,
I no longer (mac OS Big Sur 11.1) Seem to have the option from within the Time Machine app to delete folders, files etc. Is this deliberate in Big Sur does anyone know? I used to be able to highlight a folder and 'delete all instances of this backup' or words to that effect.

You're welcome and you are correct. Time Machine does erase older backups to make room for new. Eventually however, it will fill up. Your options are to use a second drive or erase and start over. It's a bad idea to try and delete files/folders manually.
FWIW, the option was removed in Big Sur.
Time Machine automatically manages the removal of past backups that are now consolidated into weekly or monthly content. Do not think you can outsmart Time Machine by removing its backups on your own. Sit back as the rest of us and let it do its thing without your help, or pay the price when the content you may want is just not there.

I also am now getting this message from Time Machine
The disk itself is 1TB and the disk it's backing up is 500GB. I thought TM should delete older backups and make space as neccessary? I have a feeling I am going to have to format the drive and start again.
