2013 iMac has been running very slow even after completely wiping it. Just not sure why I have so many drives showing up.

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Hi staci38,

That number of drives is correct. The path is the following:

  1. Physical Drive (what you can hold)
  2. Shared Container
  3. macOS
  4. macOS Data

All good! If the Mac is still slow after this erase, it is either just getting old, or it has a hardware failure.

Cheers,

Jack

If you want to dive deeper into why the Mac is slow, we could do an EtreCheck report:

EtreCheck is a useful app to diagnose issues, both hardware and software. It is trusted by many users. Please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to the Mac App Store and search for "EtreCheck."
  2. Download it. It is a free and trusted app; as it is on the Mac App Store, and only trusted apps can be submitted.
  3. Run the report, and put it in a post, as seen here - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250000211

Cheers,

Jack
