FCP How do I set a keyframe for 360 video Field of View?

I have watched several videos on how to edit 360 videos in FCP and they all show a Field of View option within the Inspector window that can be keyframed just as the Tilt, Pan and Roll options can do as part of the Reorient area in the Inspector window when working on a 360 video, however my version of FCP, 10.5.1 does not have a Field of View in the Inspector. It is in the Viewer window toward the top and there is no option to keyframe it. Being unable to keyframe the Field of View makes it impossible to use and apparently in an earlier version Field of View was keyframeable. Am I missing something? Note in the image there is no Field of VIew available and where it is available there is no keyframe option. Thoughts?

As you see in my picture above, that button is over Tilt, Pan and Roll and has no effect on Field of View. If I adjust the field of view that button has no effect on setting any keyframe. The Field of View control is not attached to that in any way that I can see. In the attached pic you can see the Field of View control in the upper left corner. There is no Keyframe control associated with it

It doesn't matter if the 360 viewer is on or not. I am seeing the controls in the viewer either way, as seen in the image I posted earlier, or here with 360 turned on

What I am seeing is that toggling the 360 viewer seems to sometimes deselect the clip in the timeline. Make sure the clip is selected.

There may be something weird going on. Try resetting your preferences. Hold Opt-Cmd as you launch the application.

I have, I think, solved the dilemma or at least have more of an understanding. If I create a project that is NOT 360...a standard 1080P project and bring my 360 footage into it then I see the Field of View in the Inspector. I am, however, attempting to use and create full 360 videos. When viewing a 360 video that allow movement control by the view on Facebook or Youtube, the viewer does not have the ability to zoom in and out as far as I know so I would like to zoom in and out in the creation of those videos and export that full 360 which will, when viewed, allow the viewer to move the viewing position around. It does not seem to be possible unless I'm missing something. This is quite different than creating a normal rectilinear file that the viewer simply watches with no control. When my project is a normal rectilinear 1080P I see how to set keyframes for Field of View but not otherwise.

Yes. It's a 360 project as you can see below. There are two images when, in the View menu, you select 360 Viewer. In fact, if I do not select 360 Viewer in the View dropdown menu there is no Field of View control as you can see in the last image. When you are in a 360 project do YOU have Field of View available in the Reorient portion of the Inspector window? If so, I have no clue how to obtain that option.

First off Tom, thanks for your help here and all the astounding time you have put in helping so many people here. I restarted FCP and deleted prefs and there is no change. In your image I see the Reorient option in the Inspector but I do not see if that includes Field of View. Mine does not. I have verified that my Project is set to 360, my clip is 360 and set to Equirectangular.

In the first image below my View is set to 360 and the Field of View option is to the left showing a blue bar. Setting that absolutely does not set a Keyframe. You asked why I show two images and it is because the View is set to 360 and if I do not set my View to 360 then there is no option to change the field of view as shown in the second image below.

The Reorient section of the Inspector does not include Field of View. Does it on yours and if so any clue beyond trying to reset prefs that might get it back for me? Perhaps there is a setting I'm missing?

thanks for that confirmation. Sad that Field of View can't be keyframed when trying to make an immersive, controllable 360. I'll continue to experiment with FCP when I'm making rectilinear videos and apparently I'll have to limit myself to the Insta360 app on my phone and the Insta360 Studio app on Mac OS when I want to make a controllable (by the viewer) 360 video to post to Facebook or Youtube.
