Carplay steering wheel controls

My car's steering wheel has 2 buttons for changing radio stations. In a previous model of the car a short press or long press would do different things (ex. change radio station vs. change radio preset.)

My issue is that my current car no longer has siriusxm equipped. Using carplay and the siriusxm app, the 2 buttons I mentioned only go to previous/next track, but neither of them change the station. Is there a way for a long press to be implemented? I find swiping through multiple touch screens to change the satellite radio stations very distracting as opposed to simply flicking my thumb on the steering wheel. Does anyone else have such an experience? I know siriusxm is a third party app, but I think this problem also applies to Apple Music in the car.
