purchased Apple Watch from costco in 2020. What series is it?

If before, it was either a Series 3 or a Series 5
If after, it could be a Series 3, a Series 6 or an Apple Watch SE.
You can look at the back of the Apple Watch around the center ring in very tiny print it will say what model it is.
