How to re-attach base stand to a late 2015 imac?

You cannot re-attatch the stand. How did it come off in the first place?
If you bought the VESA version of iMac, it must stay that way.

Jack, I purchased the computer with a stand. A few years ago I bought a monitor arm. One of those you bolt to the desk. I purchased a VESA module to attach the computer to the stand.
We purchased a new desk that doesn’t have the ability to bolt the monitor arm, so I need to restore the iMac back to its original configuration with the aluminum base. I can’t find the original base, and after looking at YouTube videos on prying open the case someone must have done it for me.
What a mess, huh? I found a used base on eBay and a hinge clutch mechanism. Also, ordered a kit with a tool to split the screen open and the necessary double-sided tape to put it back together.
I have always been impressed with the design and engineering of Apple products, but using double sided tape to close a computer casing seems crazy. What’s wrong with a couple of screws?
