My new desktop PC running Wiindows 10 shows Win 6.2, is this a problem? iCloud for Windows asks me to signin frequently.

Windows 6.2 looks like the legacy version of the iCloud App for Windows.
Since you are running Windows 10, iCloud 10 from Microsoft Store for Windows 10 is a better choice
