If he likes his Samsung watch, then let him enjoy it.

First, he does have to be an iPhone 6s (not the 6, but 6s) or newer iPhone owner.

Thinks I like about my Apple Watch:

  • All of my iPhone alarms appear on my Apple Watch. So I do not need to remove my iPhone from my pocket to see what it is beeping at me.
  • My phone calls ring on my Apple Watch, and I use a GPS only Apple Watch. As long as my iPhone is near, the Apple Watch rings.
    • I can make phone calls from my Apple Watch as well
  • I can send and receive messages on my Apple Watch. Sending can be done using Siri voice to text translation. Unless you are using confusing words, or long messages, the conversions mostly works. It is getting better over time.
  • My Ring doorbell "Rapid Ring" app shows me a picture on my Apple Watch of what triggered the door bell.
  • It is easy to ask the Apple Watch to start a timer. Once you get used to it, you can do quick timers for cooking, or making sure you remember to move you wash to the dryer, etc...
  • I really like, far more than I would have imagined, getting the current temperature and weather on my wrist. and the MyRadar app will give you a radar weather image. I'm serious, this is the 2nd most used feature on my and my Wife's Apple Watches.
  • I can open my garage door remotely using the MyQ app and the MyQ garage door WiFi device setup in my garage. And I mean from anywhere I have an Internet connection.
  • Walkie-Talkie is nice when my wife sends me to the store, and I have to ask if she wanted brand X or brand Y.
  • I can actually exchange messages with my Wife. Before the Apple Watch, she kept her iPhone in the kitchen on the charger next to her purse. Any messages I sent would be missed (and I could not call her on the iPhone for the same reason). Now, because the messages and phone calls show up on her Apple Watch, I can messages and call her and she will know I've sent something.
  • I do like the exercise tracking. It help motivate me to get out of the chair, which I'm spending far too much time in, due to working from home during Corvid-19 isolation.

Those are the biggies. There are other things you can do, such as listen to music, podcasts, audiobooks, etc... But that is not my thing.
