Time Machine/Logic Pro X - External Hard Drive query

I have a Time Machine/external hard drive query.

I was looking to move my Logic Pro X sound library to an external hard drive to save on space on my Mac Book Pro. I tried to do it but it won't let me as I use the hard drive for Time Machine backups.

Does anyone know for certain if I use a new hard drive for Time Machine backups and simply delete all Time Machine data from my current one will that work? I don't remember if I had to prepare my current hard drive in some fashion when setting it up for Time Machine backups that will mean Logic still sees it as a Time Machine hard drive even when all data is deleted.
