Old .mov files that I saved from an iPhone 6s to my 2013 Macbook Pro aren't playing

Regardless of what player I used (Quicktime, VLC, etc), I only get the first frame of the video and no audio for the duration of the video. Quicktime tries to "convert" these files, but the converted files have the same issues.

When I "Get Info" on the files, they don't have anything listed in the "More Info" dropdown tab that videos usually have (dimensions, codecs, etc). The files have size (they're not just tiny bits of KB) so I know there is info there.

What can I do to fix this?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13
