Email forwarding - delay of 2 hours or more

I forward all my iCloud emaiIs to my gmail account and have a colleague whose emails sometimes are delayed by up to 2, 3 or 4 hours. The Google Toolbox header checker shows that this delay occurs between the Apple Mail Server and the Gmail server:-

4 hours mr85p00im-zteg06011601.me.com. → [Google] mx.google.com

The only clue I can see as to why this should happen is that is that the header shows a "dmarc=fail" entry as follows (email address edited with xxxxxx's for privacy):-

17.58.23.186 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=xxxxxxx@hotmail.co.uk;

dmarc=fail (p=NONE sp=NONE dis=NONE) header.from=hotmail.co.uk

Return-Path: <xxxxxxx@hotmail.co.uk>

They always come through in the end, but could these emails be held back because of this?

Is there any other reason for this behaviour?

Thanks for any thoughts
