Sent mails showing in iCloud Mail Inbox, but only on Mac Mail

Get reminded to follow up on emails with no response

If you send a message and don’t receive a response in 3 days, the sent email automatically resurfaces to the top of your inbox to help you remember to follow up.

• To ignore a follow-up suggestion, swipe right on the message in the message list.

• To turn this feature on or off, choose Mail > Settings, click General, then select or deselect the checkbox next to “Enable message follow up suggestions.”

I also •already• had my “follow-up suggestion switched OFF, however, I just realized under SETTINGS \ MAIL, I had more than 1 account. When I looked just now, not all were turned on. I just now switched on all of them. I’ll await for a few days to see if that resolved my issue.

I have this happening on my iPhone. I’ve not checked if it happens on my MacBook, but I pretty much only use my phone. I have unchecked the Follow Up Suggestions setting.

It’s really annoying.

First, check the website of your mail provider to see if your messages are showing in the Sent folder there. If your messages are being stored on the mail server, then check where your iPhone or iPad is storing them:

1. Open Settings > Accounts & Passwords
2. Tap on the account that you're having the issue with
3. Tap Account > Advanced > Sent Mailbox
4. Choose the mailbox under the "On the server" heading

If you find that this was already the option selected and you still don't see them on your iPhone or iPad, change the setting and test it out again.

I’m having the same issue but in my iPhone. I’ve not checked my MacBook. I’ve already switched off ‘follow up emails’. I’m feeling harassed by my emails now. I

t must be something with a recent update as I’ve never had this issue until a few weeks ago.

I can’t seem to find anything that would resolve it or answers online.

I have the exact same issue. It happens periodically, which seems “buggy” or “glitchy” since it’s not happening with any predictable pattern. Have you found a solution? If so, then can you please post? Thank you. 🙏🏻 EDITED TO SAY I JUST SAW YOUR FOLLOW-UP THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE “FOLLOW-UP”😎

On iOS there is no visual clue. I’ve found it quite distressing/confusing as I live with fatigue and brain fog so I end up looking at it for ages wondering what it is or what I’ve done wrong.

It seems that maybe it switches off when you switch it off in the settings but then with any software update, switches on again, even though the setting doesn’t change. *I think* 🤔 (I’m doubting myself now.)

Wow thanks so much, Mktstrategy: this was driving me nuts for months. I kept dragging the sent mail back into the sent mail. I found this setting, and when I unchecked the box, I could see the sent mail in the inbox literally disappear.

I’m using my iPhone and iPad and it’s doing the same. I’ve checked follow up and it’s off.

so much trouble and frustration since the last Apple update. Taken me hours to sort all sorts out, now this.

as Follow Up is off, I’ve no idea how to fix it.

Hi Tammy. Do you work in APPLE Support ? This issue is still happening (i don’t have “follow-up” checked). I’ve remixed my mail app & re-installed. Nothing is fixing the bug. Can you please report this glitch to APPLE ?

I have the same problem as others. Follow up suggestion is already turned off. Sometimes an email I send just pops up in my inbox a while later. How do we stop it?!?

I’m using iPad and it’s just gmail. Fyi
