MBP 15" 2015 thunderbolt ethernet bridge does not show disconnected after unplugging

Hi there,

After I take my MacBook from my desk and unplug the thunderbolt ethernet port (completely unplugged including the adapter) , my network settings keep showing that I am still connected. Because of the reason above, if I try to open Safari with Wi-Fi, it will not work because the computer still thinks it is connected with the ethernet cable. To solve the issue, I have to go to network settings and remove the thunderbolt connection manually. I never had this problem before and I thought this maybe had something to do with the new operating system (Big sur).

Does anyone know how to solve the problem?

Thank you in advance

Hi dries274,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today with your Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter. It sounds like you disconnect it and your Mac still thinks you are connected until you go into Network Settings and remove the connection. This started after upgrading to Big Sur.

Does this happen inside a new user account? Here's how to make one: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac.

Let us know how it goes.

Have a fantastic day!
