AirPods Double-tap plays Podcasts on Apple Watch instead current app I am using on iPhone

I have AirPods gen2, and Apple Watch 2. When I pause the music I play on Spotify on my iPhone and double tap my AirPods it automatically starts to play podcasts on my Apple Watch. I tried disconnecting AirPods from Apple Watch but then my AirPods disconnected from all my devices. This started when I tried to connect my AirPods and my Apple Watch to listen to podcasts without my phone.

Thank you.

Hello,

Thanks everyone for your help, resetting my Apple Watch solved my problem. Probably it’s not the best way because I lost some of my data on my Watch. My phone and my watch were up to date.

Thanks again,

Stay safe.

Hello MoonJ.,

Thank you for your reply. Yes, Auto-Launch Audio Apps option was enabled, I turned it off but it didn’t seem to solve my problem. I hope I made myself clear. For example, when I am listening to music on my iPhone on Spotify and when I double-tap my AirPods to stop the music and double-tap again to start it, I want to continue the music on my iPhone but instead the Podcasts app on my Apple Watch starts playing. Turning the Bluetooth off on my Apple Watch solves the problem but then I can’t use my watch.

Thank you.
