apple TV for senior interface?

Hi there,

I'm ignorant of how Apple TV works so excuse me if this is ridiculous! I currently can observe my parents using the Wyze camera, which is great because I can see them while I'm on a landline connection with them.

Is possible, maybe thru Apple TV:

Can I use Apple TV in a way that allows them to (1) watch their normal cable but (2) allows me to interrupt what they are watching so I can get their attention and instruct them to, for example, hang up their landline so I can reach them?

No, appletv is like a big iPad that use the tv as a screen, its a setup box when they use their cable as input source the appletv might as well be disconnected, the appletv does not do FaceTime so even if they are using it as active input source you cant call them
