Apple's security update 11.6.3 for Big Sur fails returning false error message Am writing this report to make Apple aware of the failure of its security update 11.6.3 for Big Sur and the false error it throws. Its update fails and returns the error message "Current device configuration is invalid for installation in current state. Please try again. Updating requires 5.56 GB of disk space." even though 7.66 GB of disk space is available. The failure of its update and the error message recurred after system restart.

FireVault I want to upgrade OS to Big Sur and I get an error message that I can't while FireVault is encrypting. This has been going on for over 24 hours. Time remaining vacillates between 1 and 2 hours and has been showing same message since 4:30 pm today

Hi Marco1428,

That is definitely an unexpected error. Are you still able to start up your Mac and use it normally? Or does it show an error screen at startup?
