Messages and getting 2-step verification messages

I am not getting the 2-step verification code from Google via Messages on my new MacBook Air but it does come in on my iPhone and iPad.

Why is it working on some of my devices but not all?

Messages has to be linked to both the same phone number, and email address, and your phone number and email address must be linked to your AppleID for 2-step to work through it.

Apple iCloud account must be logged on the same account with all devices.
