AppleTV Credits?

Received an email from apple on Jan 30 with the subject line: "Enjoy $4.99/month in credit from Apple TV+ through June"

The email went on to say:

You’re getting $4.99/month in credit from Apple TV+ through June.
We’re applying $4.99 in credit to your Apple ID each month you’re subscribed from February through June to keep enjoying Apple Original shows and movies. That’s it — no further action is required.

With The Morning Show’s Emmy win and Ted Lasso hailed as 2020’s best comedy, Apple TV+ has set a new bar for quality storytelling. Dive into new seasons of M. Night Shyamalan’s Servant, Peabody-winning Dickinson, and more critically acclaimed series returning this year. Also, look out for premieres of Apple Original Films — including Palmer, a moving drama starring Justin Timberlake, and Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry — as well as new adventures in The Snoopy Show.

And now you can watch Apple TV+ on even more screens — find the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, or download the app on select Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung, LG, VIZIO, Sony, PlayStation®, and Xbox devices. Learn more about how to watch Apple TV+.

Your credit will be automatically applied to your Apple ID each month you’ve been charged for the service from February through June.

To me that seems pretty straight-forward. However, I was charged three days later and did not receive a credit. I've been chatting with support for about 30 minutes now, and they are not making any sense....was this email sent to a larger audience? I am being told that because I didn't take advantage of the one-year free trial promotion last year, that I am not eligible for this offer.

Apple sent me plenty of reminders of the timing of when that one-year offer would expire...I wasn't paying attention. The reminders stopped once the offer expired and I have never received an email like this since then. I have been paying month-to-month since December.

Nowhere on the email does it say I'm only eligible if I took part in the one-year offer. The one-year free trial email has loads of asterisks explaining the qualifications and timing of the offer expiration and limitations whereas this email quite literally says that there is no further action required.

Guess I just want to know what I'm missing here and if anyone else had a similar situation.

I just got off the phone with apple Support about this matter this morning. I have Apple One Bundle but got that email also. Apparently the email was worded very bad. There is no actual credit. You're not getting money or iTunes credit. The email meant if you trial was up you would continue to get the $4.99 credit to cover the cost of Apple TV + which would make your cost $0. If you're on Apple One, you're already getting a bigger discount.

It was worded totally wrong and the Support guy I spoke to said he has had many phone calls about this issue and he has said they need to reword the emails or issue a press release also. So there is actually no credit, it's just meant that your free trial is extended...

I spent some time as well this morning with Apple Support and the agent was really unable to satisfactorily explain what this is about. I had placed an online inquiry yesterday seeking a resolution but the interface forced me to select a purchased item for a refund. So I selected February’s Apple One payment as I had no choice but to select something from the list of purchased items. In the text box I wrote what I was seeking in reference to the same email I received from Apple dated January 30th. So, this morning while on the phone, what I could get from the unintelligible agent was that they refunded me the full $14.95 Apple One charge for February (which is NOT what I had asked for and which has yet to hit my Apple Card) complete with canceling my Apple One subscription which, again, I had NOT asked for. The agent instructed me to renew my Apple One subscription, which I did, and yet another charge for $14.95 to my Apple Card showed up (the expected credit will clear out the duplicate). According to what I think the agent said, now that I resubscribed to Apple One I should expect to see the monthly $4.99 credits for Apple TV+ on my Apple ID through June. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Following up on my reply from yesterday, Apple has credited my Apple ID account with $4.99. I will monitor next month and thereafter through June to ensure the $4.99 credits accumulate each month and will report here as I notice. (I am still waiting for the one-time credit for $14.95 to my Apple Card for the Apple One duplicate payment but I am sure it’ll show up soon.)

and this was accomplished by cancelling/refunding your service and re-upping?

I only subscribe to apple TV, and I never took advantage of the free trial since I missed the 90 day period, which apple clearly knew about since I was getting reminders (and missing them amongst the other spam apple sends about content) up until my 90 day period ended. This caused my confusion of how I received this email if it was tied to a free trial that I was never a part of...
