Saving data to a USB

I have a 2018 MacBook Air 13 inch laptop. I'm having difficulty in saving data to a USB. I'm told that my particular model does not have Save As Function. Apparently the older and later models do have a Save As Function. I'm using pages and want to back up my work. I tried the click and drag function to the USB icon that i placed on desktop but my work disappeared from the pages file. Can anyone advise onhow to save to a USB please?

Plug in the USB stick.

Open the Pages document in Pages.

HI BA,

" I'm told that my particular model does not have Save As Function"

By whom? Save as is a function of the operating system, not of the Mac model. It was replaced by Duplicate in Lion (OS X v10.7) to the chagrin of many Mac users, and returned as a 'press option' menu item with the next (if memory serves) OS X version.

Open the File menu.

With the file menu open, press the option key.

On the file menu, "Duplicate" will be replaced with "Save as…"

Select Save as…

In the Save as dialogue, navigate to Finder and select and open the USB stick.

(optional) If you want to save in a specific folder on that stick, find and open the folder.

Click Save.

Done.

Regards,

Barry
