OS 11.2 HDMI is still flaky

Not really a question -- more of a data point:

My Mac mini M1 HDMI to DVI output is still a bit flaky even after the OS 11.2 update. Twice now, I've experienced a monitor "snow crash" on wake-from-sleep -- nothing but random pixels on screen. Putting the computer back to sleep then waking it again restored HDMI functionality.

This has happened only after the computer had been idle overnight. It hasn't occurred with normal wake-sleep-wake activity throughout the day and it hasn't yet risen to the level of annoyance that would make me revert to Thunderbolt to DVI output.

(The monitor, a ten year old HP 2010i with DVI and VGA inputs, always worked well with my 2010 MacBook Pro and OS 10.13.6)

What your M1 mini does, and your Dell does are two distinct data sets, and what you used to be able to do with that ancient HP monitor is no guarantee of future functionality. Apple is about change, not position.

You will find that a normal 27 or 32 inch 4K@60 hz HDMI capable display will work quite well with the M1 mini.

It could be age (DVI was already obsolete when you bought it). I’d replace with new.

You may be right. But HDMI output on my year old Dell 3670 desktop computer works fine with a 16 year old Samsung 244 DVI monitor so age of hardware might not be the only issue here. HDMI/HDCP seems to be a very fussy technology and I don't envy Apple's engineers as they try to solve these issues of legacy incompatibility.
