MacBook Air M1: Experience using DisplayLink to drive a 2nd external monitor?

The MacBook Air M1 (and MacBook Pro M1) only support a single external monitor.

Anyone have experience working around this, by using Displaylink drivers and a USB-to-HDMI DisplayLink compatible adapter, to drive the 2nd external monitor?

My research so far:

    1. Install DisplayLink drivers: https://www.displaylink.com/downloads/macos Installed on my MBA M1 MacOS 11.2 without complaint
    2. Order a Displaylink-certified USB-to-HDMI adapter. But which? I found this: StarTech USB32HD4K USB to HDMI 4K adapter: https://www.startech.com/en-us/audio-video-products/usb32hd4k
