Pages and Numbers gridlines don't print

When using either Pages or Numbers, if I format a table to have gridlines printed, the gridlines are shown in the Print Preview, but they are never printed.

If I save the sheet or page to a PDF file, and then print that file, the gridlines are printed. This is my current workaround, but it would be much more convenient to be able to print directly from Pages and Numbers.

Has anyone had a similar issue ? Could the problem be printer-dependant ? My printer is a rather old Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C1110B...

Hey spoona,

Sounds like you're not seeing your gridlines when printing normally from Pages or Numbers. We'd be happy to help.

You have the option to print with or without gridlines in Numbers for your Mac but you'll have to prep your document before printing. By default, a blank Numbers document will setup the gridlines at .35pt thickness or something around that number, which doesn't show up when you print as it's too thin. If you select table, go to "Format" in the top right inspector > Cell > Border > select the border for 4 boxes and change thickness to anything above .35pt and you will see it will print the gridlines. Adjust the thickness as needed until you're able to get them to print successfully without the workaround you've mentioned.

Thank you for your reply, and sorry that I didn't already mention that I had tried increasing the line thicknesses. Even with them increased all the way to 6pt (!) for both table border and cell borders, none of the lines print.

However, if I first save as a PDF, even with lines narrower than 1pt, and print from Acrobat Reader DC, they are printed.

This suggests to me that Adobe Acrobat Reader DC knows how to correctly use the printer driver, but that Pages and Numbers are not quite speaking the same language.
