MacBook M1 air or Pro for Citrix use on 4K 32" screen

hello,

I bought a 4k 32" screen and discovered my 2012 Mac does not support more than 1080p. Then I hooked it to my 2018 MacBook Air (i5 dual core, 8Gb) and although it supports the resolution, it cannot handle the Citrix application I use (heavy trading tool) in combination with that resolution. The CPU constantly works at 120% and it is not workable. Even at 1080p it runs around 70%. My late-2012 Mac (i5 quad-core, 16Gb) has no issue at all with the Citrix applications on 2 screens simultaneously.

So I figured the best solution is to trade in my MacBook (that is still worth something) for a new model with 16Gb and the M1 processor, which should solve my issues.

so my questions:

1) Is that a correct conclusion?

2) Will the MacBook Air be sufficient or do I need the Pro that has a fan and can handle high CPU use for a longer period?

thanks!
