I just bought a new pair of Airpods 2nd generation but the package is poorly made and the data cable is obviously not authentic. But I can see the serial number in https://checkcoverage.apple.com/sg/en/ as below, I bought it today but the warranty is activated 2020 October, not by me...
Have I bought a fake pair or refurbished pair(but not by Apple)? I am confused.

If you purchased them from Apple, then you will get a year long limited warranty from the date of purchase. If you did not purchase these AirPods directly from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, then what you're seeing could be expected.
