MacBook Air w/ HomePod

It seems that the HomePod requires iOS for set up. I don't have an iPhone. Are there any apps for an Android phone that would allow me to set up a HomePod to work with a new MacBook Air M1?

Why on Earth should it be so difficultl to pair a HomePod with a MacBook Air???

Are Apple & Mac two separate companies now?

No, you can’t use an app on Android, it requires an iOS device with the Home App installed on that.

So, what about if I borrow a friend's iPhone just for the set up? and then after that it will work okay with the MacAir?
