Mac Mail - Unread count

Can't understand this. Unread count says 4 unread messages but contains no messages in the Unread folder. There are no unread messages in Mail anywhere.

'All' shows 3 unread messages and again contains no unread messages. (How could there be 3 unread messages in all and 4 elsewhere?)

I have tried rebuilding mailboxes, trashing prefs, checking online accounts, reimporting all mail etc.

Not a global pandemic type issue, but annoying nonetheless.

Anyone?

Mail show3 unread messages but there aren't any. For a while, I've had "one unread message" in my Unread mailbox (Catalina on iMac), Two days ago, there were two. Today there are three. I click the Unread folder and nothing shows up. These three "unread" emails are listed ONLY in the Unread folder, none of the other mail folders show anything unread. I've deleted the Unread Smart Mailbox and recreated it with the only option selected as "Unread" (obviously) and the three "unread" messages have shown up again. I've selected "Mark all messages as read" and still they remain. Where are these ghost messages that it keeps finding? Why is it showing these when no other folder in the Apple Mail program shows anything as unread? This is obviously not a life-and-death issue but it is a little bothersome.

Unread Messages Count is Wrong On my MacBook Air, in the Mac Mail program, the number of unread messages shown is almost wrong--but just for *one* particular email account. For example, the mail directory will say I have 18 unread measures in that account, so I will either read or delete them all, but it still shows that I have 18 unread emails. It's a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless. Is there a way to correct this? Mark

Mac Mail strange behavior Perhaps 2-3 times a week, Mail randomly moves a message from InBox to another mail box. This happens only after I've read the message. Typically, I discover it's gone when I need to refer back to it. Usually it turns up in the All Mail folder and I can move it back to the InBox. But until I find it, I panic, thinking the message has been deleted. I can find no reason for this. I've checked Rules and I've checked config settings, but can find nothing that would cause this. Fortunately, these messages don't show up in Trash folder, but still, it's seriously annoying. Ideas?
