iCloud Bookmarks not syncing since outage last week

Before I noticed the outage being reported last week, my iCloud Bookmarks, synced with Edge for Windows (by using the Chrome extension) went crazy, I have hundreds of bookmarks in dozens of folders and dozens of them were spilling out into the main folder I would delete them and they would come back.

To try to fix this, I would toggle off Safari in iCloud on my devices and delete all my bookmarks on both Edge and Safari and restore from an HTML file.

Now my bookmarks will not sync and if I try to edit my bookmarks on any device in Safari I will get the error "Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing had completed."

Because I turned off syncing of Safari, 2 of my iOS devices no longer have any bookmarks and one was able to sync once and is unable to sync anymore.

Eric Barbosa,

Are you able to access a secure website on your iOS devices? We ask because Safari requires access to port 443 to push updates between iCloud and your devices and secure websites need access to ports 80 and 443.

To check, try and go to the Apple ID website.

If you are able to access the website, close Safari using these steps: Close an app on your iPhone or iPod touch and then power your iOS devices off and back on.

When your iPhone powers back on, check to see if you are able to access the synced bookmarks.

Hi there Eric Barbosa!

It sounds like your iCloud bookmarks aren't syncing. We can understand how important it is to have access to this feature and we will provide you with some tips that could help.

To start, would you tell us if there are any bookmarks listed on your iOS devices since deleting the bookmarks and toggling off Safari in iCloud?

If there are, follow the steps listed here: If your iCloud or Safari bookmarks aren’t syncing

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

I have 3 iOS devices all up to date. 1 of them has the bookmarks sync back after a couple hours on the first day, but since I have added new bookmarks to my Mac and those have not reached that device. The other 2 have 0 bookmarks except for a Favorites folders. Sometimes a Verizon bookmark appears on my iPhone when I toggle Safari on iCloud.

I have tried restarting the devices with Safari in iCloud off, and even turning off iCloud completely on my Mac, which now gives the same error when I try to edit a bookmark, and restoring 1 of my bookmarks from iCloud.com (trying to restore 70 of them resulted in an error), which didn’t appear to restore the bookmark.
