When I go to use Apple Pay it keeps using my Apple Cash. I have my Apple Card set up as the default card to use, however it will not let me use it when trying to send $$ via text. I this not a feature?

Apple Card is a credit card. You can only use debit cards or Apple Cash to send and receive money. See the following from Send and receive money with Apple Pay - Apple Support
