Apple Watch, Phone # (pound sign) not available for phone calls

Hello everyone does anyone know why the Phone app on an Apple Watch does not have the ability to dial a # (pound sign)? Most of verizon codes require a # sign to get started. This is an Apple Watch that is not paired to a phone so it's a stand alone. Thank you!

Watches are set up with an iPhone, but there are now stand-alone family Watches that function without being paired to an iPhone. The stand-alone watch has less available functions.
