i want to use my iphone as camera for mac

hi everyone,

I want to use my iPhone 11 as the camera on my Mac. I have looked at apps like camo studio - however these types of apps seem to only designed for use with particular video conferencing programs.

My family mainly uses Facebook messenger and I have found no way to use my phone camera on the messenger service.

I guess I'm hoping that there is a way to connect my phone to the MacBook then select my phone as the video input rather than the MacBooks inbuilt camera.

thanks for reading

cheers Dan

I've seen a couple of options to achieve what you mentioned, but I have to ask what an external/phone camera would provide that your Mac's camera doesn't already give you?

I tested EpocCam for someone on my old MacBook Pro and it worked well. Whether or not it suits your needs, or works with video chat software you desire, you will need to determine. A driver for your Mac is required and this connects via Wi-Fi to the iPhone app. When I tested it you could install either the free phone app or the paid one. On the free version the audio was muted, but the video worked well and I only tested it with Zoom. It may not work with FaceTime. Elgato seem to have updated it since I tested it last year.

There are other similar options. Search on the App store for webcam.
