Heating issues on iPhone 12 Pro Max

I’ve recently bought an iPhone 12 Pro Max and I haven’t had any major issues with it, but whenever I charge it with an 18(ish) watt samsung adapter, the top left side of the phone heats up. It’s especially noticeable when I touch the steel band around the volume buttons. Does anybody know what the input specifications of this phone are in terms of Volts and Amperes? I’ll try using an adapter with those specifications.

Thanks in advance :)

The question is

  • Have you exposed your device to a liquid?
  • Have you left it outside in a car and the temperature went beyond the acceptable limits?
  • What is the Health of the battery? Have you checked recently?
  • What were you doing on your iPhone?
  • Was it connected to counterfeit charging cable?
  • Did your iPhone had a protective cover which does not provide good ventilation?

Lastly, purchase Apple Products, from an Apple Online StoreApple Retail Stores, and many Apple-authorized resellers and wireless service providers.

Secondly, It is not clear here in your post about the ambient temperature in your area where you are using the iPhone. However --> Keeping iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch within acceptable ...

Store the device where the temperature is between -20º and 45º C (-4º to 113º F). Don’t leave the device in your car, because temperatures in parked cars can exceed this range.

Use iOS devices where the ambient temperature is between 0º and 35º C (32º to 95º F). Low- or high-temperature conditions might cause the device to change its behaviour to regulate its temperature. Using an iOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause the device to turn off. Battery life will return to normal when you bring the device back to higher ambient temperatures. Using an iOS device in very hot conditions can permanently shorten battery life.

Hi, thanks for the response.

1) No, my device has never been exposed to any sort of liquids.

2) I have never left it in a car.

3) The battery has a capacity of 100% and appears to be healthy, furthermore, I never let my battery fall below 20 or charge it over 80.

4) The phone was left on standby, I wasn’t doing anything on it. All the apps were closed.

5) I was using the same USB-C to lightning cable that came in the box.

6) No, I do not use a protective case, and that’s why I was able to notice the radiating heat on the steel band on the sides.

I live in a region where temperature variates between 15°C and 25°C.

Any other suggestions?
