I put my phone in the water and now my speaker doesn’t work :( I don’t know what happened. I’m in Mexico now and I bring it to iPhone store and they say that the phone is broke. I bought it 4 months ago it’s impossible that this phone is broke.

Water can cause damage immediately, and that's what you experienced.

Note that all other smartphone vendors take the same approach to water damage.

Dropping it adds water pressure which is not included in the lab tests, the water is cold, but the worst part is the fact it is salt water which is deadly on electronics. And safe drying time would be 3 - 5 days, not a half hour, but since salt got into the phone it would continue to corrode it.
What do you mean you don't know what happened... You put it in the water. What did you think was going to happen...
It is NOT waterproof. The warranty does not cover accidental damage or abuse, including liquid damage.
You did NOT take care of it. You destroyed it by putting it in the water.
It means under controlled laboratory conditions they put a new iPhone in the water with controlled temperature and no water pressure and left it there for 30 minutes and it still worked. Is this what you did? That same article goes on to say that moisture damage is not covered by the warranty.
Water resistant is not waterproof.
Liquid damage is not covered by the warranty.
You should never intentionally submerge anything with a water resistance rating of less than 50 Meters.
If they did that they aren’t very smart and they got lucky. But if their phone fails it won’t be covered by the warranty either just like yours. Salt water and electronics don’t mix. And you said it was it the water for almost 5 minutes.

Why did you set it in water for 5 minutes? How deep was it? How hot/cold was the water and did it have anything else in it?
