Grayed-out text in finder windows has become too light after upgrading to metal-capable GPU.

Since upgrading my Mac Pro 5,1 (mid 2010) with a metal-capable Sapphire 11265-05-20G Radeon PULSE RX 580 8GB, the “grayed out” text in my finder windows has become so light as to be barely legible.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Is the anything I can do to return the text to a normal level of grayness, or am I stuck with this undesirable side-effect?

Thanks for taking time to make suggestions.

My display is an Apple Cinema Display, which has no capability to adjust contrast.

Adjusting brightness only effects the lightness or darkness of the field on which the grayed-out text rests. The legibility relationship between text and field does not change. Plus, my screen is calibrated for my work as a graphic designer.

I've been using this computer since 2012, and the brightness of the grayed-out text was fine/normal until 2 months ago when I swapped out the original GPU for a metal-capable card in order to upgrade to Mojave.

I know that I need to get a new Mac Pro and display so I won't have this issue and others that go along with the metal-capable card on a Mac 5,1, but I'm trying to hold out until the ARM-based Mac Pro is available.
