Apple TV: This video isn't available to watch in the country you're currently in

Hello,

when my Apple TV is wired or wireless connected to my UPC router, and assigned IP address from this ISP(UPC Slovakia), I cannot run Apple TV, and I got the error:

This video isn't available to watch in the country or region you're currently in.

Then I've tried to connect my Apple TV to WiFi Hotspotfrom my mobile phone(assigned IP address from Telekom Slovakia), and Apple TV worked fine.

My Apple TV settings: Region=Slovakia

OS version: tvOS 14.4 (18K802)

My question is, why did I get the error mentioned above when connected to UPC Slovakia?

Apple TV HD, tvOS 14

Hello,

my ISP (UPC Slovakia) was able to assign me a new IP address.

The one I had before was 188.167.64.x

And I have a new IP address, and now I can "Play" or "Resume" Apple TV movie on Apple TV HD, on iPhone or MacBook.

IMHO, my previous IP address was blocked by Apple because my ISP forgot to update

the Reverse DNS resolution for the IP 188.167.64.x

When I did revesre lookup for this IP address, I've got: proxy.crescoinvestgroup.sk

Therefore, Apple has probably blocked this IP because they think this was not a dynamic IP address,

but a static IP address for proxy server. As we know there could be a lot of users behind a proxy server.

Then I was told, my IP address is an "International IP address" that's why I have got the error mentioned before.

That makes no sense to me. All external IP addresses are global/international. There isn’t any special designation for “International IP addresses”; such a class of addresses does not exist. Almost all users in Slovakia will have an Slovakian IP address, from UPC or another ISP, and that should be fine.

This video isn't available to watch in the country or region you're currently in.

It could happen with iTunes Store content. It could happen with third party streaming services. I don’t see how this could happen with Apple TV+ content, as that would be internationally the same, afaik.

Slovakian IP addresses and UPC IP addresses should normally have access to Apple TV+, for users with an Slovakian Apple ID account and subscription. Availability of Apple Media Services - Apple Support

Can you test access to this content from a different UPC IP address (friend, neighbor, family, …)?

Hello, this happens only with content from Apple (Movies from Apple TV+). I have installed various applications on my Apple TV HD, such as Netflix, Eurosport Player, Youtube. Those applications are running correctly.

I've tried running the application Apple TV from my Macbook or iPhone, I've got the same error.

From the Apple TV+ movies, when I've tried "Trailer", it's working, but cannot run "Resume" or "Play" from the Movies.

With the "Resume" or "Play", I've got the error I've mentioned before(not available to watch in the country or region).

I asked my ISP to fix this issue, they told me to reset my Router, but this didn't help.

Hello VeryVito,

no, I'm unlucky with this one. I've called the Official Apple Support staff, and they told me to RESET my Apple TV HD,

but this didn't help. Then I was told, my IP address is an "International IP address" that's why I have got the error mentioned before.

Then I've asked my ISP (UPC Slovakia) if the IP address they've assigned 188.167.64.0 is an International IP.

Their answer is, this IP address is a vailable Slovak IP address, and they told me to check it from IP Geolocation databases at:

https://www.iplocation.net/

And my ISP told me to contact again Apple support to fix this issue.

Any luck with this? I've had the same issue since TV+ debuted here in the US (and tried contacting Apple months ago, but never got any further than "try rebooting the router). Ended a full-year's free subscription without ever managing to see a second of an actual program or movie on TV+ (A shame, as I hear good things about Ted Lasso).

No other service has this problem, but obviously Apple TV+ is doing something technical that none of the others are, and nobody I talked to at Apple could tell me what it might be.

Yep, makes no sense to me, either.

App Store, iCloud, Apple Music, iTunes, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney+, Peacock, etc. all work fine for me here in the US, but Apple TV+ insists I'm located on the moon. Obviously, there's something else at play other than the IP address.

I'm guessing the issue has something to do with my ATT/Arris/Netgear network and WIFI setup, as I can (but won't) watch TV+ on my phone's cellular data, but nobody has been able to tell me what magic settings TV+ needs that nothing else (even Apple's other services) seems to require.
