My apple watch is paired with my work phone and appleid. I need to back it up and then restore it to my personal apple id. How can I do this?

I have had my Apple Watch paired to my work iphone and Apple ID. I am purchasing it from them as a personal phone. My company will erase the phone and contents for security reasons before giving it back to me for personal use. I would then like to sign into the phone with my personal AppleID and restore that back up, but want to keep all of my watch, health and activity data etc that is backed up in my work AppleID. Can anyone help me with this?

The question is where is your backup? iCloud or iTunes? Did they allow backup of your iPhone from your work iPhone?

If you don't have your old iPhone or you erased it

  1. Erase your Apple Watch.
  2. Set up your new iPhone and sign in to iCloud. ...
  3. Open the Apple Watch app on your new iPhone, then pair your watch with your new iPhone.
  4. Try to restore from a backup. ...
  5. Follow the onscreen steps to finish setting up.

Thank you. I backed up my apple watch to my work iphone, which backed up to my work iCloud. I then signed out of my work iCloud. I was keeping the iPhone but changed the sim and signed into my personal iCloud account on the same phone. My watch didn’t know what to do with that so I then unpaired my watch and paired it again with the iPhone and it seemed to connect fine and retained all of my health data and watch settings in the app. I hope this works for anyone else with this situation.
