can I record using voice memos on my iMac and then burn that song on a cd

Yes, you can do this. Here is how:
- In Voice Memos on the iMac, drag out the song you want to be on a CD, and put it on the desktop. (Drag from the left sidebar to the desktop.)
- Open the Music app.
- Select File > Import. Select the dragged song/audio.
- Import it.
