I have not enabled iCloud photos on my MacBook but when I delete a photo on my iCloud drive (to free up space) it is deleted on my MacBook. Any ideas on what I need to do to separate the two?

iCloud photos and iCloud drive are two separate things. Can you be more precise about how and where you are deleting the photos. In a synced iCloud drive folder on your mac - or directly on the iCloud.com website?
And where on your mac are the photos deleting from - the photos app? or a folder. If the app, how are you getting the photos into your photos app?
Hi I am using the iCloud.com site to delete a photo. In the photos app on my mac I then see the photo has been deleted. I normally update the photos app by downloading photos from my phone. In the photos app under preference the photos app is not checked. Under system preference - apple id - iCloud - the photos section is not checked.
