connecting MacBook Air to Samsung TV with HDMI cable

When I connect my brand new (!) MacBook Air to my Samsung TV using the Apple adapter and an HDMI cord, it works fine as a second screen. When I do the same set up to connect to my mother's Samsung (newer than mine) TV, I can see what is on my MBA screen, but it jumps constantly. What requirements are there on the television for this to work? Any ideas to fix this problem?

Hi Eloise7,

We understand you're having some issues when using a particular TV as a display for your Mac. The following page offers specific information we think you'll find helpful: Use your TV as a display with Mac

Additionally, you can find troubleshooting steps to address video issues that might occur with an external display, here: Get help with video issues on external displays connected to your Mac
