Local web server gets 403 Forbidden

Followed the instructions in "Setting up a local web server on macOS 11 Big Sur" (https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-250003138), produces no errors, but then going to http://~/<shortname>/ gets a 403 Forbidden. Apple support has nothttp://~/<shortname>/

Anybody?

Make sure userdir module is enabled (184), the UserDir.conf include is enabled (521), and the users directory include in extras/httpd-userdir.conf (16) is enabled, and you have a username.conf file in users with your user name configured as etresoft noted.

Make sure your Sites directory has Staff and everyone read only.
