Which DNS records do you want to create/edit? Public domain or private? If public then your domain provider would have provided you with details to access them via a web portal. These portals are generally referred to as CPanels. Once logged in you’ll find all the usual records you’d expect eg: A, MX, PTR, TXT etc. You can create, edit or manipulate existing ones as desired but be very mindful of the consequences. Merely looking at them will do no harm however.
If private then ask your IT admin/team to help. It’s a simple enough request and hopefully he/she should be able to assist you? You should have at least one DNS server for you School’s domain providing DNS for all your devices.
If you want to study the subject from a comprehensive book then look for DNS & BIND 9 by O’Reilly. Cricket Liu - one of the world’s experts on the subject - on his own website discusses the subject in detail every day.
DNS does not stand by itself so you should also try and expand your knowledge by learning more about IP addressing, CIDR, routers/firewalls, LANs and WANs, VLANS, VPNs as well as dedicated servers, switches and the physical structure (cabling etc) of networks as a whole. These will all be relevant in some way sooner or later.
Good luck
