3rd generation Apple TV set-up

Question

Hello

i reset my 3rd generation Apple TV using iTunes and updated the software.

I thought I would be able to set it up with my iPad Pro or my iPhone 12 by using Bluetooth on the device. I do not have the remote.

my phone and iPad are not picking up the Apple TV

any ideas or help appreciated

The Apple TV (3rd generation) need a functional remote to set up the software Apple TV Remote in Control Center on iPhone or iPad.

For the Apple TV (3rd generation), your options are:

buy a replacement Apple Remote (aluminum);
temporarily borrow an Apple Remote (aluminum) to help set up the software Apple TV Remote;
restore the Apple TV and connect a wireless keyboard to help set up the software Apple TV Remote;
restore the Apple TV and connect the CiderTV Mac app to help set up the software Apple TV Remote.
