Is there a safe VPN for macOS Sierra 10.12.6?

I'd like to have VPN protection, but every review I read seems as bad as the security risk of being unprotected! Is there a SIMPLE such program for iMacs? NORD VPN reads like a problem looking for a place to happen, sigh.....

NORD is a top choice. It is reputable and customer support is decent. They had an incident years ago, but that was quickly patched from what I understand. My go-to used to be Hotspot Shield, but their price went up and the speed went down. NORD is affordable. I recently used it with free hotel WiFi to connect to a Virtual work environment for an entire week. It was not totally perfect, but worked quite well. Also installed the app on my iPhone for Airport/Hotel/Unprotected WiFi access.

As with any Security company, you have to trust them to some extent. PwC audits NORD’s no-log practices, so at least there’s that.

If you need a VPN client in order to create a private tunnel to your workplace, school, or other institution you should talk with the VPN network admin to get their recommendation for a client. If you are asking about a public VPN you are wasting your money because public VPNs do not provide any security, and, all your traffic is routed through their servers where they can do whatever they want with your data.
