file vault message



macbook pro

BigSur version 11.11


when i try to turn on file vault i get this message


Authentication server failed to complete the requested operation.

Hi eomilami,


  1. Try restarting your Mac.
  2. Reset PRAM: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support.
  3. Reset SMC: How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support.
  4. Try turning on FileVault in Safe Mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support. (Safe Mode is for testing only)
  5. Run First Aid: How to repair a Mac disk with Disk Utility - Apple Support.
